Omkelend

Omkelend was my final project under the CG spectrum course! I had so much fun completing this project, I was responsible for Omkelend the creature and all the environment. Some assets including the small shrubs were taken from Quixel Bridge.

The Omkelend Creature was made using Zbrush and retopologised in Maya, the rocks were also sculpted in Zbrush and then retopologised using Zremesher.

This project involved several first-time challenges, including creating an animation sequence. Refining the animation in Blender and adapting it for Unreal Engine was a learning curve, and while further polish was possible, I chose to stick to my set deadline.

I created the tree asset using SpeedTree, animating the leaves in Unreal Engine via the material graph. I found SpeedTree efficient and enjoyable to use and plan to explore it further. The sandstorm VFX were created in Unreal Engine 5 using the Niagara particle system, marking my first experience with VFX and requiring extensive iteration and fine-tuning.
